Andy Taylor
Andy Taylor has been doing parkour for years and has been coaching since 2009. He has a background as an electrician and later discovered his love for designing parkour parks, obstacles, and gyms. He started off by building a bar park in his backyard, which appears in many high ticket parkour Youtube videos. To this day he has designed more than 10 gyms and dozens of mobile obstacles. He currently owns and designed Pinnacle Parkour Academy Philadelphia.
One of Andy’s best gym designs is the one Andy owns and manages. Since he manages a gym he knows what parkour instructors need every day, and whats best for gyms, on the design and business side. Pinnacle Parkour Academy Philadelphia has been praised to be the favorite gym of many famous parkour athletes.
Pinnacle Parkour Academy Philadelphia
An 11,000+ sq ft. space, PPK Philly is Andy’s personal vision for the best space in which to teach parkour. From the spring floor and wooden breakdance floor to the tumbl trak and innovative mobile obstacles, this gym is loaded with something for just about everyone. Andy both designed and built this entire facility by hand, taking care to focus on every small detail within the space in order to ensure the best facility possible.
Warrior Gym
This project was quite unique to work on as the client requested the parkour setup to mimic the look and feel of Mayan temple ruins. This space was completely designed by Andy to not only be a gorgeous build to look at, but also to be highly functional and interesting to move around on.
Pinnacle Parkour Academy Princeton
This gym was the first gym Andy both designed and built from conception to completion. A highly challenging space to work with due to its small size of only 3,000 sq ft., Andy worked day in and day out to create the best possible parkour setup.
Brooklyn Zoo Gym Redesign
This gym already had an intricately designed space before Andy got involved, but it was lacking in structural safety. Andy was hired to redesign certain areas of the parkour setup to make them safer to train on. Doing his best to avoid altering the initial design as much as possible. Some major changes that has been made was restructuring the bar setup, stabilizing initial structures, and revamping the Ninja area.
Make a Wish Foundation
The Make a Wish foundation is an amazing organization that does everything in their power to grant sick children a wish of their choice, whether it be a trip to disneyland or meeting their favorite superhero. Andy was hired to both design and build a parkour playground in the backyard of someone’s home. Over the course of three days he led a group made up entirely of volunteers to see this project into completion.
Beast Coast X
Beast Coast is an annual parkour gathering in Washington D.C. every memorial day weekend. This event usually includes a build out, the first of which was designed and assembled by Andy with the help of dedicated volunteers. Highly regarded as one of the best Beast Coast setups, this 78,000 sq ft. play structure was color-coded and loaded in sets onto vans by Andy in order to allow for a smooth building process, causing the assembly to finish in just one day!
Andy's Backyard
Andy’s love for parkour design and building started with his back yard. This 900 ft bar park was visited by parkour athletes from all over the world. Andy made his house a parkour destination. We all have to start some where.
